Aluminium etching can be a safer, cheaper, and more accessible alternative to copper or zinc etching. In this workshop we will cover:

  • How to cut and prepare aluminium plates

  • Mixing copper sulphate and salt etching solution to bite aluminium plates

  • Demonstrations of different methods of tone creation and mark making

You will come out of the workshop with:

  • Etched plate

  • Print proof

To prepare for this workshop, you will need a simple 10cm x 10cm image that you can draw onto the plate.

All other materials are supplied, including a prepared aluminium plate, proofing paper and ink.
