Some Kind of Something

Et Al Gallery and Studio proudly present the works of Lisa Brummel

Exhibition Dates: 9th November to 27th November 2024

This exhibition came about because my osteopath is now blind, and he commented that he stillvisi ts galleries but his family has to explain the art works. Which started me thinking, “how can I have an exhibition that involves everyone?”

This question turned into an investigation of sound and rhythm, where the boundaries between movement, auditory, artistry, and visual dissolve, and so a deeper connection to these elements is revealed.

The external rise and setting of the sun, the guiding metaphor between fire and earth, and the mystical goddess. The earth provides fertility, being the clay, while the sun represents the fire, the hardening of the clay.

As you watch the video that your sensors resonate with the progression from bells to musical adornment, capturing the sounds of nature, all symbolising the dance of life itself. With sound rhythm and movement intertwine, representing the cyclical journey of creation.

While the works within this exhibition are placed on plinths or hang on the wall, the viewer is invited to touch and play the pieces, so giving them life. My pieces were made with love, care and regard for the visual aspect, but also for the sound quality. In this exhibition, I want everyone to feel included and hopefully gain something from my journey.”
